05.07.10 | PSIC and Juris offer workshops on
public safety legislation, July, August and September 2010
This year a new law
involving public security will come into force: the Wet
veiligheidsregio’s. This law will give the veiligheidsregio’s their right
to operate. It shall change a lot of tasks and authorities for all parties
in the domain of crisis and disaster management, control and aftercare.
PSIC and PSIC Participant Juris offer workshops to create consciousness of
these changes and put them into practice. Three sessions will be held: 22 July, 24 August and 23 September 2010. For more
information, you can also consult the Juris website.

01.06.10 |Training Wet Veiligheidsregio’s with virtual disaster exercises
The Wet veiligheidsregio’s (Dutch safety zones law) will drastically change the organization and management of disasters and crises, as well as the organizations involved. In addition to a good knowledge of the law a thorough training is essential for the people who shape these changes.
PSIC members Juris and VSTEP are therefore developing a new workout within the project VITTOS. This training is specifically designed for managers and policy advisers, and is aimed at being able to apply the new law in a realistic environment. In a virtual training environment a large-scale disaster will be simulated. In this realistic training, participants can take the lead during complex emergencies and are directly confronted with the consequences of their decisions in their virtual practice environment. During this exercise Juris and VSTEP trainers will be present for support and evaluation. If the workshop is provided in-house, several additional modules are possible, such as a combination with an operational or tactical training, consulting reports etc..
